Another MGH Admission

Where to begin... Since my last post, a lot has happened. Most recently, this past Monday I spent 2 days at MGH because I woke up on Monday with severe shortness of breath and was struggling to keep breathing. I went to the ER and had abnormal EKGs, along with the breathing difficulty. After a day of monotoring, CT scans, X-rays, and doctors, they admitted me for the night. I met the greatest group of doctors from 3rd year med students to attending physicians, who came up with some great, although scary, reasons for my visit.

Over the next few weeks, I will see an allergist at Mass General to rule out something called angioedema, which is like having an anaphylactic allergic reaction but with no trigger. I will also see an ENT if/when this happens again who will look at my vocal cords through a scope while I am having trouble breathing to see if my vocal cords are at fault. There could be an endocrine related answer but we haven't discussed that too much yet.  Rule out the scarie…
